Faceted Glass

“Faceted glass', also known as “slab glass' or “Dalle de verre', is a widely used, often abstract stained glass art form. The ¾' to 1' thick glass is cut, broken on an anvil and chopped into pieces making up the design. When cut to shape, the edges are chipped or “faceted' to give a vibrant, reflective edge. When “Dalles' first gained popularity in the 1950's the glass was set in poured concrete. These days we use stronger, long lasting epoxy cement for the structural base.
Faceted glass is installed like regular stained glass but since it is thicker it requires a wider space in the frames. It can be installed with or without exterior covers. Dalles panels block transmitted light more than traditional stained glass and the windows appear to sparkle like jewels.
